Rise and shine! Today’s ride promises a visual feast unlike any other. We will ride across the panoramic view of the himalayan ranges while passing through Bomdila and Dirang. We will make a stop at Sela pass, one of the most breathtaking mountain passes, located at an altitude of about 13,700 feet above sea level. The road leading to the mountain pass is towered by snow peaks, thick clouds often enveloping the pass, adding to its beauty.
At the heart of Sela Pass lies the Sela Lake, also known as Paradise Lake. This lake is surrounded by snow peaks, and remains frozen for most of the year. The lake is believed to be sacred by the local Monpa tribe.
The pass is not all about its raw beauty, it’s more about history and heroism. According to locals, Sela was a brave woman who, along with Jaswant Singh Rawat, an Indian Army soldier, defended the pass from Chinese forces during the 1962 Indo-China war. While the battle was fierce, Sela and Jaswant's bravery became the stuff of legend, with the pass named in her honor. The Jaswantgarh War Memorial stands in quiet dignity near the mountain pass, watching over the battlefield where extraordinary valor defied impossible odds. The roads after the memorial beautifully carved hill twist. You will reach Tawang swiftly in no time. Spend the night in Tawang.

For today’s ride we will ride to the very end of India. After breakfast, get ready to visit the lakes and the territorial boundary of India. We will ride to Madhuri Lake, originally known as Shonga-tser Lake, the lake has gained its popularity after the Bollywood movie Koyla was filmed here in 1997. The film starred the iconic actress Madhuri Dixit, whose association led to its current name. The lake is situated at an altitude of approximately 12,000 feet above sea level, and reaching it involves navigating winding mountain roads, dense forests, and high-altitude passes.
We will stop at Panga Teng Tso Lake, situated at an altitude of around 14,000 feet above sea level. The journey to Panga Teng Tso Lake involves navigating through rough terrains and narrow mountain passes. As you ascend higher, the landscape transforms —from lush forests and rivers to rocky terrain, where the air becomes thin, and the snow more intense. The deep blue of the lake contrasts the white and gray of the mountains. The area is also rich in wildlife, and if you’re lucky, you might spot rare species such as the Himalayan black bear, snow leopard, or the red panda.
Our next stop is Bumla Pass,a place where the beauty of the Himalayas meets the echoes of history. Situated at an elevation of approximately 15,200 feet above sea level, Bumla Pass serves as a crucial border crossing between India and China. Bumla Pass is one of the officially recognized Border Personnel Meeting (BPM) points between the Indian Army and the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) of China. You can witness the interactions, where military officers from both sides meet, exchange pleasantries, and reaffirm their commitment to peace and cooperation. Remember not to take any photos at the army base there. After that, we will head back on our journey towards Tawang.
