Riding here requires awareness of changing traffic conditions, different road surfaces, busy towns and winding roads through the hill country. Good preparation and careful riding are important for enjoying the journey responsibly.

Before starting your Sri Lanka Motorcycle Tour, make sure you have the required passport, motorcycle driving licence, travel documents and appropriate riding gear. International travellers should also check the latest ETA and entry requirements before travelling to Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka is also rich in Buddhist traditions, historic sites and wildlife. Respecting religious places, local communities and protected natural areas is an important part of responsible travel. Riders should follow local traffic rules, listen to the tour team's instructions and remain particularly careful around wildlife and changing weather conditions.

CRUCIAL DO'S

Check the weather and local road conditions before riding through the hill country and other areas where heavy rain can affect visibility and road conditions.

Carry your valid passport, motorcycle driving licence and other required travel documents throughout the journey. International travellers should check the latest Sri Lanka ETA and entry requirements before departure.

Respect Buddhist temples, monasteries and other religious or cultural sites. Dress appropriately, follow local instructions and remove footwear where required before entering sacred areas.

Carry a properly fitted helmet, riding jacket, gloves, riding pants and motorcycle boots suitable for the riding conditions in Sri Lanka.

Keep sufficient Sri Lankan Rupees with you during the journey, especially when travelling away from major towns where ATMs and card payment facilities may be less accessible.

Follow Sri Lankan traffic rules and remain alert in busy towns, at junctions and on narrow mountain roads. Traffic conditions can change quickly, particularly around urban and populated areas.

Maintain a safe distance from elephants and other wildlife and never attempt to approach, feed or disturb animals. Sri Lanka has extensive protected wildlife areas and a rich population of elephants and other wild species.

Follow the Tour Guide, Tour Manager and support team's instructions during riding days, especially when travelling through mountain roads, wildlife areas or sections affected by changing weather conditions.

Travel Don’ts

STRICT DON'TS

Do not overtake carelessly or assume that other road users will follow the same riding pattern. Stay alert to buses, tuk-tuks, motorcycles, pedestrians and other vehicles, particularly on busy roads.

Do not ride after consuming alcohol or any substance that can affect your concentration, judgement or reaction time.

Do not approach, feed, chase or attempt to photograph wildlife from an unsafe distance. Follow the instructions of guides and wildlife authorities when travelling near national parks and wildlife areas.

Do not enter restricted areas, protected wildlife zones or religious sites without following the required permissions, local regulations and instructions given by authorities or site staff.

Do not litter, damage natural surroundings or behave disrespectfully at temples, heritage sites, villages, beaches or other cultural and natural attractions. Respect Sri Lanka's environment, local communities and cultural heritage.
