CRUCIAL DO'S

Carry your valid driving licence, government-issued photo ID and required travel documents throughout the journey. Indian nationals must carry an Inner Line Permit (ILP) for Arunachal Pradesh, while foreign nationals require a Protected Area Permit (PAP).

Follow the latest instructions and clearance requirements for Bumla Pass and Madhuri Lake before travelling to these restricted or controlled areas.

Check the weather and road conditions before every riding day, particularly when crossing Sela Pass or travelling towards higher-altitude areas.

Follow the instructions of your Tour Manager, support team, local authorities and security personnel, especially around checkpoints, border areas and restricted locations.

Ride at a controlled speed on narrow mountain roads and be prepared for sudden changes in road surface, visibility, snowfall or rain.

Respect Tawang’s Buddhist culture when visiting monasteries and other religious places. Follow local customs, dress appropriately and observe photography restrictions where applicable.

Keep the region clean and carry your waste until you find a designated disposal point. Single-use plastic items are banned in Tawang and the district administration continues to enforce plastic-free measures.

Keep your motorcycle gear, warm clothing and essential personal medicines ready for changing mountain conditions, especially during rides towards Sela Pass and Bumla.

STRICT DON'TS

Do not travel to Bumla Pass or other restricted areas without the required permits and official clearance. Bumla permits are currently issued through authorised channels.

Do not smoke or consume alcohol while riding, and avoid smoking or drinking at monasteries, religious sites, public places or other locations where it is prohibited. Always follow local rules and site-specific restrictions.

Do not walk, ride or step onto frozen lakes, even when the ice appears solid. Tawang authorities specifically advise visitors to stay off frozen lake surfaces.

Do not ignore instructions from the Road Captain, local authorities, Army personnel or security checkpoints, particularly near Bumla and other sensitive areas.

Do not litter, use banned single-use plastic items or leave waste along the mountain roads, lakes and tourist sites of Tawang.
